MARCO WITH LOVE, TONIGHT AT ROCKWOOD MUSIC HALL STAGE 2, 10 PM

Check out Marco with Love tonight at 10 pm at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2.

Here's an excerpt from the Marco With Love feature coming out in the next issue.

...Planes, trains and automobiles. In Marco's country, indeed, all the world's a stage. The Fort Lauderdale native has been busy living music since he first picked up a guitar, teamed up with a friend, and started performing. First sprouting as a musician strongly influenced by punk rock, Marco has since evolved in what he describes as a rock crooner, one that draws from various rock and roll periods and other genres of music like country and Americana. Still he has a special affinity for 50s and 60s rock, and it shows in the orchestration of the songs and recordings. His voice leads semi-anonymously in the performance of a song in a way that Lennon did the Beatles and Brian Wilson, the Beach Boys. The period's influence is distinct enough in Love that one can imagine Nikki Blonsky bopping to the beat in 1960s Baltimore.

But don't be fooled, Marco With Love swings quite a bit, not just in the rhythm and tempo of its music but also in its flavor from echoes of the K Geils Band to the punk bands of ten 80s and 90s. They gleefully survey the entire land of rock as, in their words, •purveyors of rock and roll legends."

Rushing from stop to stop, each step to the next, wherever the muses of music lead him and Love, that's the life of Marco Argiro as an artist. And though the journey remains long, and the prize unpredictable and perhaps distant, Marco sits by the road of his destiny, a road that is made fertile by soil that spans two continents and roots that spring wide from Appalachia to Calabria.

Guitar in hand he flashes an easy smile, comfortable if not content, exhilarated if not rested. Marco has arrived, each stop he makes, a destination....
